Hourly Requirements
In Nacogdoches Junior Forum, members work and report three different types of hours: community service, HIP and personal. It is important that you understand the difference between these types and report all hours worked. As a non-profit organization, we receive credit for our volunteer hours and gain credibility in dealing with other organizations based on the hours that our members donate. Hours must be turned in twice during the year, in January and May. You will total your hours and send them to the Placement Chair.
Community Service Hours
Community Service hours are those hours spent working for the organizations that have been chosen as Service Projects for the year. Examples include the Senior Center, Nacogdoches Treatment Center, Millard’s Crossing, Project SOS or NJF Scholarships. All active and SIS members will be assigned to a specific Service Committee each year. Active and SIS members will sign up for hourly assignments with the chair of the committee. Although members may receive credit for service hours performed for any of NJF’s Service Projects, members should earn a minimum of 25 service hours within their assigned Service Committee.
Holiday In The Pines Hours
Each active and provisional member is required to work a minimum of eight hours at our major fund-raiser Holiday Day In The Pines. Active members will sign up each year at May Banquet to work on a specific HIP committee. These include tickets, food court, decorations, pipe and drape, publicity.
Provisional members are responsible for preparing and running the Hospitality Suite at HIP. The Hospital Suite is where the vendors are served breakfast and lunch during HIP. This is a provisional class project which takes the cooperation of every provisional member.
